OC Rock & Ride of 2025 brought together thousands of attendees, staff, and production teams for a weekend of live music, sports, and entertainment at the Ocean City Inlet.

Our team was tasked with delivering internet connectivity to support the event, capable of handling operations such as ticketing, communications, streaming, and production coordination. Given the event’s size and location, this required a fast, reliable, and secure wireless network.

challenge

The event’s location—a large, open parking lot with no pre-existing cable or fiber infrastructure, presented several unique technical and logistical challenges. Spanning approximately 11.5 acres (500,940 square feet) and including multiple production zones, stages, and vendor areas, the site required high-performance connectivity to support staff, production crews, and live streaming operations. 

Outdoor conditions introduced other factors to the project, including potential wireless interference, line-of-sight obstructions, and weather-related issues that could impact performance. Given the absence of infrastructure, a temporary on-site wireless network was deployed, capable of rapid setup and takedown while meeting the event’s technical demands.

solution

Our engineers designed a hybrid wired and wireless network architecture emphasizing redundancy, scalability, and performance. The primary network consisted of a high-capacity wired internet uplink. This was strategically located at the center of the Ocean City Inlet parking lot, where the highest data demand was expected. Backup wireless connections extended from the primary network to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.

In addition, wireless access points were strategically positioned throughout the site to provide consistent coverage across operational and administrative areas. These access points were installed on elevated structures to minimize interference and optimize signal strength. Separate network segments were established to maintain both performance and security for event, support, and management operations. A live network monitoring system tracked signal strength, device connections, and bandwidth usage in real time. This enabled technicians to quickly address and identify any issues in performance.

The networks flexible design allowed for seamless expansion and ensured adaptability throughout the event, delivering resilient infrastructure capable of meeting all operational demands.

The final implementation delivered stable, high-speed internet coverage across the entire event site, maintaining reliable uptime even during peak demand. It enabled staff and production teams to communicate seamlessly and supported uninterrupted live streams, keeping event operations fully coordinated throughout. Through strategic planning and continuous real-time monitoring, our team provided dependable solutions that ensured the event’s success. This deployment demonstrated that scalable and adaptable wireless technology can achieve top-tier performance in demanding temporary event environments.
